Menzo John Morse

	Menzo John Morse Jr., 65, of Dowell, passed away Thursday, July 4, 2002 at 11:59 p.m. at his home.
	Mr. Morse had been a coal miner.  He was a member of American Legion Post 647, Masonic Lodge 192 of Farmington, Ainad Temple of Southern Illinois and the Moose Lodge of Charlston, West Virginia.  He was a military veteran.
	He was born October 28, 1936 at Maquon, the son of Menzo J. Morse Sr. and Evelyn (Lovell) Morse.  He married Becky Smith on February 23, 1982 at Las Vegas, Nevada.  He had lived in Dowell for the past 14 years.
	Surviving are his wife, Becky Morse of Dowell; son, David (Diane) Morse of Dunbar, West Virginia; daughter, Lisa (Josh) Ellingson of Morton; step-daughters, Regina Hollenback and Jodi (Brandon) Abernathy, both of Table Grove; sisters, Stella Heston of Washington State, Connie McVey of Glassford, Linda Utsinger of Ellisville and Joyce McNeil of Farmington; brother, Bill Morse of Varna; mother and father-in-law, Donna and Gary Swingfert of Farmington, Charles and Verna Smith of McComb; several nieces and nephews and two grandchildren.
	He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother.
	Funeral services were Monday, July 8 at 10 a.m. at Maxton Funeral Chapel.  Interment was in Old DuQuoin Cemetery.
	Masonic Rites were held at 10 a.m. Monday.  The American Legion provided graveside services.
	There was no visitation.
	Memorials may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois.
